BIM GROUP PURSUES A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY.

Established in 1994, BIM Group has focused its investment strategy on sustainable multi-sector platforms such as real estate and agriculture.

After 30 years of construction and development, BIM’s sustainable green footprint is reflected through four pillars of business: tourism and real estate infrastructure development, agriculture and food, renewable energy, and consumer services.

Real estate development

The sustainable direction of BIM Group is evident in its development of tourism and real estate infrastructure. With a strategy to create differentiation, right from the initial steps, BIM Group has chosen to explore untouched lands and develop them into international standard urban areas and tourist complexes.

In 1997, BIM Group launched its first hotel project in Ha Long and embarked on creating a coastal road leading directly to Bai Chay. The once muddy land has now transformed into the Halong Marina coastal urban area, which houses many internationally renowned luxury resort brands such as InterContinental, Citadines, and Sailing Club.

Similarly, BIM made its way to Phu Quoc when it was still an untouched island. By investing in the construction of the Phu Quoc Marina complex, spanning a total area of 155 hectares and located in the heart of Bai Truong, the group has created a comprehensive resort and entertainment destination that is well-invested and serves as the annual venue for the BIM Group IronMan 70.3 Phu Quoc international sports event.

BIM Land, a member of the BIM Group, is one of the few domestic real estate developers that meets the collaboration standards of renowned international resort brands such as Park Hyatt, Regent, InterContinental, Citadines, Fraser Suites, Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn.

This brand has also issued green bonds in the international market, successfully accessing sustainable investment bonds for environmentally friendly real estate projects. Aligning project development with green funding from international financial institutions such as IFC and ADB speaks to the company’s capacity and development philosophy.

With its sustainable commitments, BIM Land’s hotels in Ha Long and Phu Quoc are expected to reduce emissions by approximately 4,000 tons of CO2 per year – equivalent to the greenhouse gas emissions from 890 gasoline-powered cars in a year.

High-tech agriculture

BIM Group has positioned itself in the agricultural production sector, which has been one of its core industries for three decades. The group is one of the largest industrial salt producers and aquaculture and seafood producers in Vietnam, with extensive farming areas spanning thousands of hectares in locations such as Quang Ninh, Kien Giang, and Ninh Thuan.

BIM Group has made groundbreaking changes in the agricultural industry by developing a knowledge-based learning platform applied to business. From the successful localization of Pacific oyster breeds, contributing to the development of marine aquaculture in Quang Ninh, to introducing white leg shrimp breeds imported from Hawaii and implementing standard natural probiotic farming processes in Quang Ninh and Kien Giang, as well as the industrial salt production model in Quan The Salt Field (Ninh Thuan) – one of the largest salt fields in Southeast Asia.

Currently, BIM Foods has invested in over 2,500 hectares of industrial salt production and 1,600 hectares of aquaculture, improving sustainable livelihoods for thousands of farmers.

Green economic complex

In early October 2021, BIM’s wind power plant in Thuan Nam district, Ninh Thuan province, began commercial operation, marking a milestone for BIM Group in completing its strategy of developing clean salt production combined with clean energy on a 2,500-hectare land area with a total investment of 12,000 billion VND.

According to the representative of the corporation, this complex produces 300,000 tons of salt per year (60-70% of Vietnam’s salt production) and 1 billion units of electricity, providing about 1,000 stable jobs for local workers. In addition, the project contributes to reducing emissions of 600,000 tons of CO2 per year, contributing to the national Net-zero target by 2050.

Clean energy and clean salt at the Quan The Green Economic Complex are expected to be used to develop green industries, create surplus value, and optimize local resources.

The sustainable development strategy throughout the 30 years of establishment of BIM Group not only helps the corporation to be strong and stable in production and business activities but also demonstrates its scale and responsibility. In 2023, the company will contribute over 2,500 billion VND to the state budget. Moving into the new decade, BIM Group continues to persist in its goal of creating products that enhance the quality of life for the community and promote sustainable development for the regions where the corporation operates.
